Data Scientist - Glasgow

£35,000 - £45,000 + Comprehensive Bonus & Benefits

Would you like to work alongside a team of experienced Data Scientists tasked with making a large contribution to the delivery of actionable business insights through the use of advanced analytics practices? In this role you will work on machine learning projects across customer segmentation, supply chain optimisation and predictive maintenance which better operational behaviour and improve decision making across the business.

This position allows you to work with a global energy business who's products and services improve living conditions in countries all over the world and enable global sporting spectacles and music festivals to showcase their events to a mass audience.

Key tasks / responsibilities:

• Using statistical methods to find hidden patterns in the data from which predictive models can be created.
• Collaborate effectively with analytics team members, engaging in frequent knowledge sharing and building a sense of team spirit
• Work with wider business functions including product, engineering and sales to gain a deeper understanding of their data, processes and opportunities.
• Develop statistical models and machine learning algorithms which predict operational behaviour and improve performance.
• Collaborate with the team and wider business units to build data products capable of helping make informed decisions on processes and behaviours.

Key skills / experience required:

• Quantitative and analytical skills with experience across Python, R or DataBricks.
• Experience of working on business problems and using analytical techniques to solve them.
• Good working knowledge of different modelling techniques (e.g. cluster analysis, decision trees, regression, propensity modelling, Bayesian)
• Strong understanding of big data principles, visualisation techniques and ability to produce business insights and present back to the wider business.
• Strong relationship skills who can work as part of a team but can take responsibility over your own individual projects.
