General Summary:To build strong relationships at all levels with an agreed panel of key Regional Sales Brokers to achieve new business sales targets and to increase market share in key strategic product areas.To manage and coach a team of Business Development Consultants to develop skills and increase Unum awareness with their panel of development brokers and to increase sales and pipeline opportunities to contribute to the success of the Regional Sales target.
+ To achieve sales targets as per the compensation plan and delivery of profitable block growth for self, team and region
+ To develop pipeline opportunity by building strong relationships with senior figures within the agreed panel of key Regional Brokers for self, those of your team and region
+ To articulate and sell the Unum story and "grow the market" within the panel for self, team and region in Unum's key strategic product lines and segments.
+ To be planful in your approach to own panel with reference to opportunities and contact strategy and develop the same methodology and mindset for your team.
+ To keep up to date with market trends and to advise the Regional Sales Manager of developments by competitors
+ To take the necessary action to resolve queries and problems raised by intermediaries and to manage their requirements for self, team and region
+ Respond to requests from colleagues to help secure new business or to provide a service for team and region
+ To be able to present directly to customers on the Unum value proposition and to have the team do so
+ To encourage a close working relationship between intermediaries, Head Office departments (claims/BST) and Regional Office staff to ensure that administrative matters are dealt with as smoothly as possible for self, team and region
+ To be technically competent and up to date with Unum's and competitors' products and practices and relevant current legislation.
+ To develop a broader knowledge of the wider EB market and to be able to identify with client challenges to highlight how our solutions are relevant.
+ To act as a coach and mentor to Business Development Consultants and members of the Regional Sales Team as required by Regional Sales Manager.
+ To support the Regional Sales Manager in strategic thinking/ideas sharing to contribute to success of the entire region.
+ Assist the Regional Sales Manager in embedding a franchise mentality across the whole regional sales team
+ Be responsible for their team 121s as specified by the Regional Sales Manager
+ When required cover Regional Sales Manager duties
+ Development of self and team including supporting internal and external programmes and personal development plans that will improve performance and build a career within Unum. On the job coaching is critical to this role
Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Thorough knowledge of Unum products and associated value proposition
+ In depth knowledge of the group risk market
+ Knowledge of adjacent markets, products and services
+ Use of appropriate systems: Salesforce.com, GAT, SAUD, GPAS, AWD, FoxPro, LSAR, Retention Tracker and POWERPOINT, WORD, EXCEL & OUTLOOK.
+ Coaching and mentoring skills
+ Frequent travel is required to locations in the UK, therefore a full driving licence is essential?
Minimum entry criteria:
+ Significant industry experience
+ Proven track record of delivery within group risk sales
+ Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels
+ Well developed relationship management skills
+ CII - Group Risk qualification or working towards it
+ A recognised business leader
