Research Laboratory Coordinator (Research and Related Activities) Ref: TC688
£26,715 to £32,817 per annum
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the role will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a group of Engineering research laboratories within the Faculty of Science. You will be responsible for the provision of a high standard of technical support to researchers within the Faculty of Science.
You will be expected to work in collaboration with the Engineering academics and the Faculty Health and Safety Manager, to keep up to date with current Health and Safety regulations and policies ensuring all laboratory users comply with Health and Safety guidelines, policies and regulations.
The role covers a number of laboratories across the Faculty of Science and the successful candidate will provide technical support to the Engineering research groups and postgraduate student projects. This will include, but not limited to, procurement and provision of goods and services, arranging maintenance and service contracts with external suppliers, waste management and providing advice and direction in the use, technique and application of engineering research equipment and instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree (or equivalent qualification) and have proven engineering workshop experience within a research environment. They should also possess good laboratory housekeeping skills, being familiar with good laboratory principles, and have a willingness to coach, develop and instruct other team members. Candidates will be required to meet all the essential criteria of the Person Specification for this role.
