Apply for this job

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced qualified Social Worker to take the next step in their professional career with a well-established local authority. The role will involve joining a busy, fast paced MASH team whose paramount objective is always a child's wellbeing and safety.

This is a permanent role, based out of our Aylesbury office.

About us

In April 2020 Buckinghamshire Council became the UK’s newest council and the residents of Buckinghamshire will be served by a single, unitary council.

Buckinghamshire is an ambitious, rapidly growing county, and our economy is one of the strongest in the country. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and ranks as one of the top rural areas to live in the UK and yet it is incredibly well connected– only an hour from London on the train. The county has a rich history and heritage and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.

We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey. Not only will you be an integral part of the unique and exciting transition through the unitary process, you will also be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home.

About the role

In this post, you will respond to queries and referrals from a number of different sources and make contact with families and partner agencies.

Working under an extremely supportive Head of Service, you will work closely with the Assessment Teams in ensuring children and families are effectively transferred with appropriate risk assessments, priority status and initial recommendations.

We also require our social workers within this team to provide day to day support and coaching to our Contact and Referral Officers who also work within the team.

In return we offer you a safe working environment, office-based, where you will receive excellent training, development and peer supervision forums. You will have regular quality one to one supervision sessions and group supervisions were complex cases are discussed.

For a full list of responsibilities please see attached job description.

About you

You will be a Qualified Social Worker (DipSW or equivalent) with at least two years post qualifying experience. Experience of working within a MASH/Referral/Assessment environment would be desirable but not essential.

You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, and be able to work well under pressure.

For a full list of requirements, please see attached Personal Specification.

Other information

You will be required to apply for a DBS at an enhanced level. Further information about the DSB Scheme can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check
