Part of the Integral Group, Elementa Consulting's Milton Park office is seeking a Graduate Environmental Designer to join their team in the Summer of 2020.


Simulation of building physics phenomena, including energy demand, MEP systems simulation, thermal comfort, façade performance, daylight performance, glare, solar exposure and access, pedestrian wind comfort, natural ventilation.

Undertake analysis to support compliance with UK and international codes: Part L, TM52, TM59, BB101, ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G

Developing and advancing the role of sustainability and sustainable planning services, through proactively exploring and developing best practice, with appropriate internal training and communication undertaken where required

Maintain and/or develop a broad understanding of sustainability issues as they relate to the built environment including application of LEED, BREEAM, the WELL Standard, Fitwel and other international benchmarking systems.

Development of software tools to enable more effective and/or more efficient procedures within the organisation.

Design and detail straightforward engineering systems.

Illustrate concepts and prepare written reports.

Adequately communicate by verbal and written means, technical points, thoughts and ideas to other staff, professionals and clients.

Routine project activities such as filing, documentation, document issue, posting etc. in line with the team's needs.

Work within a team environment and be able to instruct support staff in their work as it relates to the projects under the Engineers control.

Act professionally with all parties on the clients work so as to develop the company's reputation.

Achieve continued professional development in areas relevant to the achievement of personal objectives and as a contribution to those of the company.

Contribute to the development of the company so as to enhance its reputation.

Co-operate with and support other teams and Company staff in a pro-active way so that their objectives are met.

Self-development and company support to undertake graduate training plan to achieve relevant chartered status.


Confident in the use of Excel to create spreadsheets and tools to help manage workflows, data, and information

Capable of crafting a logical story and analysis journey that can be followed by Clients and Stakeholders

Competency in a number of building simulation tools, eg. IES-VE, EnergyPlus, Radiance, Ladybug/Honeybee, Openfoam, LBNL Software, etc.

Ability to use Adobe InDesign for report writing and diagram generation

Use of 3D modelling packages including Sketchup, Rhino, CAD and Revit
Building Construction knowledge

Accurate and timely delivery of work
Meet quality targets in accordance with Company standards
Achieve CPD objectives
