It’s an exciting time to be at Bromford as its business continues to grow and evolve, with an opportunity to develop professionally and gain experience in a transforming and supportive Finance team.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the role of Senior Manager - Rent & Service Charge, initially on a 6 month contract basis, will involve running the day to day operations of Bromford Rent & Service Charge finances and driving the transformation of the function via significant improvements in technology and process.

You will be:

  • Be the go to person on all matters relating to rent and service charges for Bromford.
  • Lead the rent and service charge teams through a period of transformation as we introduce a new IT solution and associated new ways of working
  • Own the organisational processes and procedures to ensure rents and service charges are set accurately and in line with relevant legislation and case law. Play an active role in the design of new processes ensuring they provide appropriate control for the business in an efficient way.
  • Take responsibility for all annual rent reviews and service charge surplus/deficit calculations.
  • Ensure that charges and payments are accurately applied to customer accounts in line with agreed business wide SLAs
  • Lead the completion of regulatory returns relating to rents and service charges, e.g. the Statistical Data Return
  • Oversee the reconciliation of property numbers across the group liaising with other departments to ensure changes are accurately reflected
  • As a standing member of the extended Finance Leadership team, actively contribute to the successful management of the finance function
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial accounting information through the development and management of controls around all income collection activity
  • Ensure all relevant requirements for monthly and year end reporting are achieved to a high standard and introduce relevant measures to ensure this is continuously achieved
  • Provide excellent financial support across the organisation driving improvements and efficiencies within income collection processes
  • Ensure that adequate systems of control exist around the accounting for chargeable services for both leaseholders and tenants. Maintain knowledge of legislation surrounding chargeable services, for leaseholders and tenants and use this to inform service charge setting.
  • Ensure that all requests for information, validation of charges and complaints are dealt with promptly, with due regard to the rights of customers

What do you need?

  • Professional qualification in finance (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent
  • Educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in, or working within the Housing sector and specifically Rents and Service Charges
  • Transformation and improvement project experience
  • Confident communicating across both finance and non-financial stakeholder groups.
  • Experience of working in a regulated sector desirable
