The Recovery Café aims to be a community member led initiative in the Forestbank Community Centre in Livingston.
Staffed by people in recovery, providing not only food for visitors and the local community but a gateway for those seeking help.
We are looking to build up our team of volunteers, to enable us to continue to develop this resource and make recovery visible in the community.
Are you looking for a new and meaningful challenge? if so, you could join our team of volunteers at the Forestbank Recovery Cafe. Your responsibilities would be to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all cafe visitors. Take part in the preparation and planning of meals. Maintaining high food hygiene standards and cleanliness within cooking and community areas.
As well as cafe duties you will be an example for community members by role modelling good behaviour, promoting healthy recovery-focused activities. You may be asked to help by signposting to local support and mutual-aid groups for people trying to gain recovery.
We would expect you to be sustaining your own recovery and be free of illicit or problematic substance use. if you are still using services or receiving substitute prescriptions this is not a barrier, as long as you are stable.
This role is open to family and friends of people in the recovery community.
If you would like to be involved in this exciting opportunity and are able to commit to 3hours on Wednesdays, we would love to hear from you.
