The Opportunity

EDF Renewables have ambitious targets for growth and both Wind and Solar PV are seen as key elements of this growth. We have a proven global track record in wind and have now entered the Solar PV market in the UK.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Graduate to join our multi-skilled Engineering Team and help us to deliver on origination, development, construction and operation of Wind Farm and Solar PV sites in an exciting and dynamic environment. With a focus on engineering excellence, engineering governance, and the Electrical Engineer (Grid Connections) will:

  • Be a champion of EDF R Health and Safety policies.
  • Co-ordinate all grid connection activities in support of renewable projects.
  • Be responsible for assisting in the completion of front end electrical design for new renewable projects.
  • Assist the Lead Engineer Grid and Construction, in providing support and expertise on all matters related to the connection and front end design of new renewable energy projects.
  • Work with external engineers / consultants.
The Person

We are seeking an individual who has an engineering and technical background within the renewables industry. Experience with electrical design of renewables projects is a must. You will have knowledge of renewable generation and associated equipment such as controllers, transformers, cables and switchgear and a technical understanding of High Voltage engineering.

We are also looking for:-

  • Experience of grid connection application and management.
  • Demonstrable experience in the preparation of technical specifications and other technical documents.
  • Demonstrable experience in the preparation of preliminary electrical designs (single line diagrams, schematics, general arrangement drawings, etc.)
  • Knowledge of protection design and co-ordination.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with respect to electrical systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting technical and commercial negotiations with EPC contractors / transmission and distribution companies etc.
  • Experience in tender/bid evaluation.
  • Experience of conducting fault investigations at both high and low voltages.
  • A relevant engineering degree, be a Chartered Engineer or be working towards a professional accreditation.
