You’ll join the team supporting two individuals who share a home in Bradford-on-Avon. They have learning and physical disabilities, communicate non-verbally and use wheelchairs. They enjoy listening to music and you’ll support them in all aspects of daily life. We are recruiting for two full-time roles for 37.5 hours per week.
You’ll support the individuals at home with everyday tasks, for example cooking, cleaning their home and managing finances. You’ll also support them with their full personal care and medication needs. Both individuals have epilepsy and complex needs and also need full support with eating and drinking. You’ll also support the individuals to access their local community to do the things they enjoy, for example shopping, socialising, attending day centres and maintaining links with family.
If you’re new to social care, we will support you gain the nationally recognised Care Certificate. If you have experience as a care assistant or care worker in a care home, you’ll discover we provide plenty of on-going training, support to achieve relevant qualifications and career progression. Experience of supporting people with epilepsy and of Peg feeding is desirable as is experience of using hoists and total communication techniques. You’ll need good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. Respectful of people’s differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach.
You’ll need to be flexible around working shifts in a 24-hour period including weekends and evenings/nights. It’s essential that you have held a full driving licence for at least two years so you can use the MPV mobility vehicle.

All support workers work flexible shifts to provide a 24/7 service to the people we support.
Full-time support workers work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for these sleep-ins is included in the annual salary figures shown above). We also have some services where sleep-ins are not required and you may work some waking nights. The salary for these roles is £16,953 - £17,774 pa.
All support workers have the option of working additional hours or sleep-ins in a range of services and are paid £50-£70 extra per sleep-in.
