The Keith Peters Building, based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, houses the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) and the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit (MBU) and forms part of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine.
We are seeking an experienced electrician to join our in-house Building Services team. The role-holder will have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship, be 17th edition qualified and have relevant experience of working in a mechanical/electrical maintenance environment.
The role includes; installation work, lighting repairs, fault finding, routine maintenance checks and breakdown repairs. You will be required to work on all aspects of the electrical system including 3-phase supplies, main circuits, sub-circuits, control circuits and switchgear. The Building has a large amount of plant and machinery so a good knowledge of motors, fans and pumps is essential. The role holder will also be required to assist external contractors and Estate Management personnel when needed.
You will need to be able to use your initiative, work unsupervised, and prioritise your work whilst being an integral part of a team. It is essential that you can demonstrate a flexible attitude and have good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. You will also be required to assist other tradesmen in their duties and when required attend non-electrical emergencies.
