What do we do?
At the Peterborough facility we design, develop and manufacture of industrial engines for both the CAT and Perkins brands. You will be working as part of a global engineering team helping to create sustainable, world-changing solutions that impact lives around the globe.
What experiences can we offer you?
This 4-year Level 3 apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities. Through combining college-based learning with on-the-job training, you'll learn the latest skills and knowledge from our experts. Throughout the first year of the apprenticeship, you will complete a work placement programme that will provide you with first-hand experience of various technical departments within our business. Based on a combination of your preference and performance in the first year, you will develop into one of the following key areas for the remainder of the apprenticeship:
?Maintenance: Our maintenance team members are critical to our business' success as they possess the technical skills and know-how to maintain our production equipment and facilities. Maintenance apprentices will use computerised systems to aid the completion of routine maintenance, diagnose equipment faults and carry out repairs in a timely manner.
?Research & Development: Our Peterborough facility is home to the Caterpillar Europe Research & Development Centre, a state-of-the-art facility that positions technical specialists where they are needed most to identify, build and perfect the technologies and solutions to help our customers be successful. Apprentices / trainees will build, rig, and test new technologies that have yet to be mass-produced.
Your working week will also include time to study that will either be located at our Peterborough facility or at the facility of our partnered training provider allowing you to network and share experiences with other students further enhancing your learning.
What happens after my Apprenticeship?
You will finish this apprenticeship with a nationally recognised qualification that could provide you with a competitive difference at no cost to you. Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will be likely offered a position within our world-class team with plenty of opportunity for long-term progression. Many of our former apprentices now occupy senior management roles within our organisation, as career development is the foundation to all our apprenticeship schemes. Depending on the needs of the business, you may also be offered the chance to complete additional qualifications. By completing this apprenticeship, you will also be able to apply for Professional Engineering Status with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

? Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
For this apprenticeship, the minimum requirement is to have:
?5 GCSEs (or academic equivalents) at Grade C/Level 4 or above.
Must include: Maths, English & a Science or Engineering subject
?Or - completed one-year full- time Further Education and achieved Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 (6 units) or equivalent qualification.
NOTE: You can apply with predicted grades . If you're successful at the interview stage, the job offer will be conditional on you achieving the required grades before September.
If your application is successful you will be expected to successfully complete a BKSB tests (Maths & English) and attend a factory tour at the facility before securing a place at an Assessment Centre. Assessment Centres will be held during the Easter holidays.
