The successful candidate will organise and coordinate activities for approximately forty older clients with a mixture of physical and mental health problems. Organise an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time. Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit them. Encourage involvement from the local community. The ability to work well in a team and to liaise with other staff, volunteers, carers and clients is vital.
You will need to have a wide range of practical and creative skills. You will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly self motivated and have a high level of self confidence. You will need to be a committed, patient and caring. Previous experience in working with older people is preferred.
Experience in activity work.
SVQ 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent
Experience of group work and activity development for those with Dementia
Understanding of the ageing process
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the West Lothian Council
