We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

  • Make a major contribution to and influence the leadership to deliver the company's Borough Plan, promoting the vision, values and priorities to staff, partners, stakeholders and residents; to improve the quality of life and build thriving communities and better outcomes;
  • Provide professional leadership, vision and guidance to the Chief Executive, Leader, Cabinet Members, Corporate Board and the council on all matters relating to the workforce;
  • Provide strategic HR/OD direction to support the delivery of the company's objectives; and
  • Lead a customer centric HR/OD function which provides the highest standards of human resource management.
  • Contribute to delivering the council’s ambitious Borough Plan, especially as it relates to the council’s aims to promote employment opportunities for local people.
  • Take an ambitious and creative approach to shaping the council workforce of the future, including building skills and developing new work practices.
  • Working with leadership colleagues, continue to develop and drive the implementation of the council’s Workforce Strategy to ensure that the council has the right capacity, policies and practices in place to meet its aspirations.
  • Drive the development of a working environment and culture that is both attractive to talented people and contributes to the council’s aims.
  • Promote excellent employee relations.
  • In collaboration with colleagues in the leadership team, ensure that the transformation agenda is well led and managed effectively.
  • Shape the operating model for HR/OD to deliver a high-quality, customer centric, operational HR/OD service for both the company managers and staff.

  • Experience of leading and seeing through change and transformation in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience of influencing and advising Boards and senior leaders on people related issues.
  • A track record of developing excellent, high quality HR/OD practice and services.
  • Proven ability of establishing effective and sustainable collaborative relationships across organisations and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to develop high level strategy and translate it into successful operational plans which meet organisational objectives.
  • A commitment to and knowledge of how to drive an effective equalities and diversity agenda
  • A knowledge of modern working practices and how to use them to improve the quality of service and retain and attract talent.
  • A restless approach to seeking out new ideas and thinking on workforce related issues
