Little and Caine are a family owned and independent funeral directors with a proud history. We have been serving our local community for three generations.

Supporting the bereaved at a very emotionally distressing time. We value our reputation which is built on delivering the highest quality service, based on trust, recommendation and relationships within the community.

We are looking for a committed, loyal and honest person to add to our existing team of funeral directors. We require an individual who is passionate and dedicated to deliver funeral services with care and empathy, who is competent in the rigorous attention to detail required, and considers this role as a vocation.

What you will do – “The Role”

  • Meet with families to make funeral arrangements, providing guidance, advice and service.
  • To look after the deceased with care and dignity, including dressing, coffin preparation and liaison with Doctors.
  • The proficiency to complete relevant documents in relation to individual arrangements.
  • Capable to carry out manual handling, often in challenging situations.
  • Liaise with third parties in a professional manner, including the Coroner, Doctors, Ministers, Celebrants, Nursing Homes, Florist and Caterers.
  • Able to carry out general office duties and pre-funeral preparations, for example, preparation of vehicles each day.
  • You must be able to take part in the Out of Hours Rota, including funeral director duties and removals of the deceased.
  • Flexible and accessible to families as required, prepared to go the extra mile to meet individual needs.
  • To promote and champion the core values of Little and Caine and independent funeral services, play a part in continuity of services, flexibility, years of experience and ongoing bereavement care for families following the service.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • We require a highly motivated individual who can work alone and as part of a team.
  • A highly organised person with the ability to prioritize tasks to accommodate workloads.
  • A unique individual with a methodical work approach, who values attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Can demonstrate excellent literacy and IT skills.
  • A natural ability to communicate with people and the capability to listen in a caring and empathetic manner.
  • Confidence to be calm, efficient and compassionate with a resilience and ability to work under pressure.
  • An ability to communicate sensitively with families to guide them through a variety of options in support of their beliefs and values in a non-discriminatory fashion.

It is a big responsibility to arrange a fitting send off and is never taken lightly. It’s tough and requires a high level of understanding, empathy and compassion. That said, it is a truly rewarding vocation and we believe a privilege to share these very emotive moments with families to create the most fitting service.
