We are recruiting on behalf of David Ross Education Trust, where you will gain valuable experience and a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician qualification. We pride ourselves on the support that we give to our apprentices, you won’t be left on your own to figure things out, we will support you throughout your apprenticeship journey together with your employer.

What you will be doing:

As an apprentice you will be working in an IT role and carrying out the following duties:

  • Resolve problems associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc.
  • Service desk support– diagnosis of IT issues and supporting users remotely using remote connection tools.
  • Installation of new software and hardware
  • Maintain and fix other computing equipment
  • Assist in system upgrades and system maintenance
  • Liaise with third party suppliers such as Internet Service Providers and vendors
  • Support with technology asset management
  • Social media and website updates
  • Supporting staff to implement new technologies in the workplace
  • Working with a range of technology hardware -Android, Windows, Mac
  • Supporting software development and implementation
  • Supporting the use of database systems and Content Management Software
  • Use of a ticketing system for task allocation/monitoring

The training you're provided with:

  • Comprehensive pre-apprenticeship induction programme (including health and safety and technical specifics)
  • Level 3 Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship standard (Networking and Architecture, Mobile and Operating Systems & Security, Cloud Services, Coding and Logic, Business Processes)
  • e-learning training materials
  • Specialist vendor and technical certificates
  • Access to practice labs to develop technical competency
  • Knowledge Base
  • Monthly assessor visits and competency checks
  • Support desk (technical and pastoral)
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Key Skills development
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities module

What we are looking for:

  • We want someone who has a true passion for technology
  • Someone who feels confident using hardware, software and other technical devices
  • Those with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with children / young people is desirable!
  • Any understanding of programming languages (Java, PHP, SQL or XML) would definitely be a benefit.
  • Someone with a passion to learn with enthusiasm and motivation to achieve success
  • We want apprentices who love helping others and enjoy working with people of all ages
  • Someone who is committed to complete the full apprenticeship programme
  • Apprentices with the ability to work well in a team and independently using their own initiative

What your working week will look like:

  • To be confirmed

Hourly Rate:

  • The initial 12 month wage of £5 per hour rate which is based on full time contract of 37 hours per week amounts to £9620.
  • The remaining 6 months of the programme will need to be paid at National Minimum Wage as a minimum.
  • Access to generous contributory Local Government Pension Scheme
  • 30 days annual leave plus statutory holidays

Desired Qualifications:

We require someone who is educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or functional skills level 2 in English and Maths.
