At Newark and Sherwood District Council, we are passionate about enabling local residents and businesses to flourish and fulfil their potential as well as encouraging more visitors to enjoy all that the District has to offer. Our Marketing and Communications team play a vital role in enabling this as well as ensuring consistency in internal communications.
We’re currently recruiting for a Communications and Marketing Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of the Council’s corporate communication and digital marketing strategy to enhance our reputation, develop our Employer Brand and promote the District and our discretionary services. You will work closely with business units across the Council to provide targeted internal and external campaigns, evaluating their reach and results and ensuring delivery on objectives and value for money.
You will have a responsibility for social media interactions which will include posting appropriate content, monitoring engagement and responding to queries or ensuring that they are directed to the relevant officer. You will also ensure that the Council’s websites are updated regularly and that content meets all legislative and accessibility requirements. In addition to this, you will design marketing and communications material for a wide range of campaigns and take an active role in the communications delivered in emergency situations.
As the successful candidate, you will have demonstrable experience in digital media, PR or marketing along with a minimum of 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, including Maths and English. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to build effective, professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and be adept at providing engaging content appropriate for a range of channels. You will enjoy having a varied workload and be able to prioritise tasks, working well to deadlines.
