Base: Newfield House, Coventry
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust seek to appoint a NHS Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join a multidisciplinary team providing community palliative care services to the population of Coventry. The post-holder will work in partnership with 8 other Consultants in Palliative Medicine in the Palliative Care Network of Coventry and Warwickshire local health economy. The Coventry MDT team is expanding and in an exciting period of development. This post also includes a palliative care liaison role in collaboration with University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Trust serves a population of over 800,000 people, with services commissioned by the three Clinical Commissioning Groups. The Trust provides a range of Community services including palliative and end of life care, mental health and learning disability services and specialist in-patient services.
Coventry and Warwickshire has a real buzz, offering a great place to live and work. Recently awarded City of Culture in 2021 Coventry is a vibrant city to be based and Warwickshire is a county with world famous attractions, with countryside right on the doorstep.
The Community Palliative Care team supports patients over the age of 18 who have advanced progressive illness, with the majority of patients seen in their own home or care home and some outpatient provision. This 9 programmed activity post will enable the Trust to provide specialist palliative care as well as achieve local strategic objectives. This role includes a new exciting collaboration with the palliative care team at UHCW, working to raise awareness of palliative care services and to provide a liaison role at the interface between inpatient and community palliative care services.
The post holder will be eligible for entry on the GMC specialist register in Palliative Care, hold MRCP, MRCGP, RCA or equivalent postgraduate qualification and have full GMC Registration. The post holder should have excellent leadership and team building skills, as well as clinical experience and educational ability.
