Our client, a global engineering consultancy currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to join the dynamic and specialist team within their Bristol office on a full time permanent basis.
This company serves the UK nuclear industry and they pride themselves on offering experience and specialist knowledge across all aspects of the nuclear life cycle, from design and build, through operations and maintenance, to decommissioning, waste management and remediation.
As a Principal Engineer you will work closely with internal engineering teams and key client contacts and you will be instrumental in developing team workloads and project plans. You will supervise the complete design for structures of varying complexity, and advise on sound engineering solutions for challenging projects, including structural dynamics and seismic design.
The supervision of design drawings, calculations, reports and other required engineering documentation, Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving technical specifications, Assessing tender returns and providing technical support to those packages throughout the design, construction, installation, and commissioning, operational and decommissioning phases of the project, Leading on design reviews including hazard and operability studies, optioneering studies, construction and installation and design changes, Preparing quality plans for single and multi-discipline work packages. Requirements:
A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer of ICE of IStructE, Significant experience of design in reinforced concrete and steelwork gained in the nuclear industry and including design for seismic loading, Ability to demonstrate significant post degree experience including design, analysis, specification, safety case support, construction, commissioning, decommissioning and supervision of staff and contractors, Extensive knowledge of: National design codes and standards and their application in design ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSA18001. Legal and regulatory standards, including construction (Design and Management) regulations. Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and their application in design. You will be key to ensuring that projects are delivered to time and cost while working closely with the Engineering Manager and Project Manager on the project plan.
