This role is a member of the Global Payments Architecture team with primary responsibilities to lead, supporting application development of the new strategic FTPS platform in support of all of CIB Banking Technology. In addition, candidate will also define a balance of short-term operational and tactical solutions on current payment applications to meet time-to-market demands. He/she will translate product, regulatory and external clearing infrastructure requirements into end-to-end solution design depicting flow sequences across functional components and partner applications, including mapping of external clearing data onto the logical payments data model, demonstrating adherence with service level requirements and covering all possible exceptional processes. He/she is expected to be the Subject Matter Expert on process flows as well as the data architecture. Objective is to ensure appropriate design considerations for meeting architecture standards, product capabilities, target operational model and technical stability, resiliency and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with initiative teams to understand requirements and provide design solutions primarily (but not limited) to new clearing adoptions and current state migrations
  • Define the integration architecture for every initiative covering all cross-impacted applications and their communication interfaces
  • Collaborate with Information Architects to map initiative data requirements onto the payments data model and contribute to the review of the logical data model
  • Assist with the definition and documentation of current state and future state Information Architecture models
  • Compile an exhaustive list of scenario use cases per initiative, and define state transitions across the various data models for each use case both for normal flows and exception events
  • Collaborate with the product team to translate and review requirements into the logical data models, interface specifications and data taxonomies
  • Apply common design patterns across initiatives to minimize bespoke “single-use” solutions
  • Define migration approaches that covers not only the target state but also the interim transitional state and demonstrate how client impact can be mitigated or avoided
  • Work with cross-functional Architects and Application/Component owners to ensure core capabilities are reused as much as possible, and that new extensions for payments are incorporated in a generic manner
  • Participate in design reviews of global initiatives to be delivered, and ensure perspectives and requirements are incorporated
  • Ensures every short-term tactical solution has defined strategic end states with the appropriate technical debt recorded in the product backlog
  • Support the demand process in collaboration with the initiative teams by providing potential high-level solution approaches to a level of detail that sizing can be based on
  • In collaboration with other architects, maintain the service catalog and ensure appropriate governance and change controls are in place

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Significant amount of working experience in financial services technology
  • Experience working in a solution architect role within Transaction Banking domain
  • Experience in the payments domain as a technologist supporting the wholesale business
  • Experience in industry file formats such as SWIFT FIN, ISO20022 with good understanding of the ISO20022 data model and cross-border corresponding banking flows
  • Familiarity with the domestic clearing schemes and their settlement mechanisms will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of different process and data modelling methodologies such as UML, 3NF, Deformalized (Star Schema), Data Vault, XML Schema etc with the ability to read and understand data models presented in a variety of formats
  • Adapt at working in globally diverse teams across different time zones and forging relationships with key business stakeholders and development teams
  • Effective communication and presentation skills both to business and technical audience
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to decompose a large problem into smaller executable pieces
