Ashbourne Day Nurseries are a rapidly expanding group of nurseries, intending to grow to 50 settings and establishing ourselves as the Early Years childcare provider of choice in every community we serve.

Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Princes Risborough are looking for a Nursery Chef to cook healthy meals for Early Years children of 0-4 years. The Nursery chef will provide meals for both of our Princes Risborough nurseries.

The candidate must be a driver in order to transport food safely to the baby nursery.

Hours of work: Monday-Friday 8.00am-4.00pm (all-year-round)


  • Be responsible for preparing & cooking fresh food to the required standard, whilst observing our ethos to provide good nutrition to our children.
  • Control of hygiene and health and safety in the kitchen, observing all legislation and policies.
  • Contribute to the commercial success of the nursery.
  • Have a good understanding of individual dietary needs and allergies and an ability to ensure meals are appropriate for each age range.
  • Develop and implement nutritional menus.
  • Manage the day to day operational and organisational aspects of a kitchen.
  • Order ingredients and work to a nursery budget.
  • Be responsible during kitchen inspections.
  • Record daily information.
  • To cook for two nursery settings, transporting food safely.

Key Skills and experience:

  • Must have relevant food preparation experience.
  • Must show a strong understanding of the importance of cooking for those with allergies and dietary requirements.
  • Food Hygiene qualification (or a willingness to complete training immediately).
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Agreeable and eligible to obtain Enhanced DBS Reference and able to provide original copies of required qualifications.
  • Must be a driver to transport food between the nurseries.
