Job Description

This is a fixed term post until 29/08/2021 and the salary will be pro rata to the number of hours worked.

We are currently looking to recruit a mobile attendant for maternity cover. Working throughout West Dunbartonshire, the mobile attendant provides emergency home care assistance to tenants within their own homes, as well as responding to routine calls and assisting with the installation of community alarm systems. Contracted mobile attendants work (30 Hrs.) 4 days on, 4 days off (including weekends) alternating early / late shifts. The mobile attendants are required to work both individually and as part of a team. You will require some technical knowledge and must also be comfortable with providing practical / personal care.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work as part of a team who will provide an emergency response service to vulnerable people living in the community. The service uses assistive technology to support care packages and applicants should have an interest and understanding of technology and its use in relation to care services. The role involves programming and installing community alarm equipment, responding to calls and dealing with intimate personal care tasks.

It is essential that you hold, or have the capacity to achieve, a SVQ Level 2 in Social Care or an equivalent qualification at SCQF Level 5 or above; have knowledge of technology used in relation to care services and be willing to undertake training in order to competently install and programme equipment; have effective communication skills (both verbally and in writing); have a positive, professional attitude, a responsible approach to sensitive information and the ability to perform positive relationships with service users, follow processes and instructions and work as park of a team.

You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of your start date.

This service operates 365 days per year on a 4 on 4 off rota system, and you will be required to work early shifts and back shifts including lone working.


This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
