Direct Line Group and our Data Chapter are looking for a data engineer to join our cross functional teams as we build, maintain and support a new cloud based big data platform as part of a large investment plan across the business.
We are looking for someone who is dedicated and will seek to identify improvements and efficiencies, while utilising new technologies and existing tools. Key to us is your focus on delivery and testing and learning fast.
You will work as part of a cross-functional agile delivery team, including analysts, architects as well as marketing and Pricing and Underwriting where appropriate.

You will report to a Chapter Lead within Data.
You will be a hands on Data Engineer keen to develop your skills and always looking to learn. We are looking for Python, Scala or Java coding experience, as well as some AWS knowledge, ideally including Redshift on the warehousing side.
You should be able and willing to resolve complex problems and implement high performance solutions that will run on top of our cloud based big data platform.
Experience with object oriented and functional design, coding, and testing patterns as well as experience in engineering software platforms and large-scale data infrastructures will come in handy here.
