An experienced, talented and energetic Clinical Scientist is required to join our Radiotherapy Physics Team in the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. As the successful candidate you will play a major role in the stereotactic radiosurgery service and bring skills and experience to improve the quality of the Radiotherapy Physics Service across a range of sub-specialties. You will be capable of working at MPE level and if not already appointable as an MPE you will be expected to work towards MPE registration. You will be able to show that you can provide clinical, scientific and technical advice to a wide range of other professional people including clinical, technical, managerial staff both within and outside of NCCC.
The NCCC is expanding and developing its advanced treatment services and its position as one of the leading radiotherapy centres in the UK. We are the first to use MR-only planning for radiotherapy and are one of the few radiotherapy centres with a dedicated MR scanner. We are expanding our range of stereotactic treatments and we are the first centre in the UK to treat multiple mets using the new Brainlab Elements software. Our range of advanced treatment methods including SRS, SABR, VMAT, IMRT, TBI, TSEI on our state of the art fleet of Varian and Tomotherapy units and we have a strong and developing brachytherapy service.
NCCC is a reference site for advanced practices such as Varian’s advanced workflow implementation; BrainLab’s stereotactic Elements and we have an excellent culture of clinical trials involvement. We have a strong teaching pedigree linked with Newcastle University delivering the national Medical Physics MSc training, oncologist FRCR teaching and local STP and route-2 physicist training.
