A Local Authority in Shrewsbury are looking to recruit an experienced Housing Options Officer to deal with emergency ‘on the day’ homeless applicants, focusing on prevention of homelessness, but where necessary assessing under homeless legislation, issuing decisions, liaising with the Temporary Accommodation Team and booking appointments for full applications with our Housing Options Officers.
Ideally, the Duty Officer will not hold a caseload, to ensure maximum capacity to focus on prevention of those who are presenting requesting emergency accommodation. However, on days with fewer referrals, the Duty Officer will assist with ‘fast tracked triage’ cases, which may result in a small ‘prevention’ caseload, which will include accepting the Prevention Duty, agreeing PHPs and keeping these plans under review. Due to the nature of this role, the Duty Officer is required to be available until 5pm Monday-Thursday and 4pm on a Friday cover can be arranged ADHOC if required.
To be considered for this role you must have experience in Housing Options and have worked in a similar role.
