As a Full-Time Family Therapist, you will join the team at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a well-established specialist tier four CAMHS service providing highly specialist multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment for children and adolescents with eating disorders.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development of a comprehensive high-quality family therapy service across the Rhodes Wood Hospital.

With regular supervision and guidance from a Senior Family Therapist, you'll enjoy a regional network of support from healthcare professionals.

As you work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's and unit's policies and procedures, you will be able to utilise your research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team and the unit.

With regular supervision and guidance from a Senior Family Therapist, you'll enjoy a regional network of support from healthcare professionals and will be joining a thriving team of multidisciplinary experts such as psychiatry, nursing, psychology, family therapy, occupational therapy, and social work.

You will be working 37.5 a week as a full-time Family Therapist, however, if you seek part-time or flexible working hours then please continue to apply as we are willing to accommodate for the right person.

Role - Family Therapist

Location - Hatfield, Hertfordshire

Salary - £42,000 - £48,000 Pro Rota + Benefits

Hours - 37.5, Full-Time (Negotiable)

Your clinical responsibilities:

  • To provide family therapy as an autonomous professional at a highly specialist level employing evidence-based approaches.
  • To undertake a detailed and highly specialist psychological and systemic assessment of children and families using such assessment procedures as may be appropriate. This will involve face to face contact with children and families to discuss and work through highly complex, sensitive, and personal information related to their mental health presentation.
  • To create and deliver, participate in, and sustain highly specialised therapeutic interventions with groups of children/families and professionals which will necessitate drawing from a broad spectrum of systemic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • The provision of highly specialist one-to-one clinical consultations to other clinical staff and thereby contribute directly to the formulation, diagnosis, and intervention plans for families.
  • The provision of highly specialist one-to-one clinical consultations to other clinical staff on the use of family therapy and systemic psychotherapy techniques, and where appropriate, for working jointly with other team members in the provision of individual and group-based programmes.
  • Initiate and participate in evaluating systemic approaches within particular areas of the service, so that the effects go beyond individual cases and improve the effective running of that service for the individuals, children, young people and/or their families.
  • Contribute to the requirements of CPD provision and support the learning of a multidisciplinary staff team at all levels of expertise.

Your additional responsibilities

  • To participate in the formulation and implementation of clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate.
  • To participate in the implementation, monitoring, and updating of an operational policy and philosophy for the clinical area.
  • To prioritise workload to ensure that skills are used to address the more severe and complex psychological presentations within this area of work.
  • To ensure the principles of clinical governance are incorporated in service delivery by maintaining a high-quality service based on agreed clinical standards.
  • With support to participate in and establish own priorities for non-clinical activities e.g. projects, audits, and research

Personal Development

  • To receive regular clinical supervision from an appropriately qualified systemic clinical supervisor to ensure the quality of professional practice.
  • Through the personal appraisal process, to engage in professional development that ensures that Continuing Professional Development requirements are met and that UKCP registration requirements are maintained.
  • To participate in annual personal development/appraisal reviews with relevant professional line managers.

Where you will be working:

Location: Rhodes Wood Hospital. Shepherds Way, Hatfield AL9 6NN

Join the team at Rhodes Wood Hospital providing care for children and young people aged 8-18 years with eating disorders or with learning disabilities who require residential care, working on tailored treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each young person.

You will support a warm and nurturing environment, allowing for the understanding of symptoms, patterns, and origins of psychological distress, and will actively encourage children to personalise bedroom spaces to make these feel like a home from home.

There is also an on-site Ofsted Registered school to support young people to continue with their education while in hospital. Rhodes Wood Hospital is located on the outskirts of Hatfield, which is easily reachable by car.
