Let’s set the scene…
Water is one of those rare commodities that we just can’t do without. It fuels us, it sustains us, and it gets us from one day to the next in lots of different ways. We all need it, no matter where we are.
That’s why it’s crucial to manage and maintain the water network vigilantly, to guarantee this life-saving resource to our communities and ensure there’s enough to go around now and in the future.
This is where you come in.
When you join the Control Operations Centre at Affinity Water, you’ll be part of a team that ensures the effective operation of the water network and business continuity, 24/7. You’ll ensure that water is moved from production source to customers’ tap in a seamless process, overseeing the strategic management of water distribution whilst maintaining service commitments.
You’ll be responsible for the proper response to alarms from operational assets, investigating issues, assessing risk, agreeing outcomes and actioning accordingly. Working closely with the Duty Control Manager and your experienced team, you’ll work around the clock to support customer’s needs. You’ll work on a rotating shift pattern to provide 24-hour cover, ensuring someone is always on hand when there’s an operational issue. It’s all part of your outstanding service.
Simply put, you’ll be on the front line of water distribution and delivery, ensuring customers receive the very best when they turn on the tap.
What do you need?
You’ll have previous experience in a Control Room environment and be able to react decisively under pressure to maintain operational performance. Experience in the water industry will set you in good stead as you’ll bring an understanding of water treatment processes, hydraulics, valve operation, leakage, and flow and pressure behaviours.
Challenges will face you head-on in this role, but you’ll have a logical and process-driven approach to work, meaning you can think strategically on your feet and problem solve as you go.
You’ll also need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel between various business locations.
What's in it for you?
The work you'll do is essential for Affinity Water to deliver clean, safe drinking water to over 3.6 million customers every day. We know that shift-based roles can be tough, so we’ll reward you with a competitive holiday allowance that increases with length of service, plus the option to buy up to 5 days additional leave make sure you’re getting the well-deserved down time you need.
We’ll also provide you with a double-matching pension scheme and will support the cost of your professional fees to help you get to where you want to be. So the longer you stay, the more you gain.
If that wasn’t enough you’ll also have access to a wide range of shopping and entertainment discounts; so when you’re off duty you can enjoy a night out at your favourite restaurant or cinema at a cheaper price!
