Job Purpose:

To Position Sony as the leading B2B solutions provider in its target market segments (Media, Sports, Healthcare etc).

Increase target audience reach, media coverage share & positive sentiment across relevant external on-line and print media.

In respect of Internal Communications, this role is accountable to develop and execute a compelling, rolling programme of internal staff communications that informs, educates and inspires a team of more than 400 employees working from office and home locations across Europe. This will include the formulation of key messaging themes and the creation and management of fresh and innovative content and channels.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team to create and deliver an external (media) and internal (staff) communications plan that supports and enhances the delivery of PSE’s key business and strategic objectives.
Personally lead the creation and execution of an external media communications plan for the PSE Media Solutions Business Group.
Direct and manage PSE’s PR agency support provision across all European territories.
Lead, develop and motivate a small team to become a recognised centre of communications excellence within PSE.
Source, develop and deliver content in an effective and engaging way on key topics relating to each assigned business area and specifically for Media Solutions (strategy, product launches, success stories, people profiles).
Report on PR performance using defined metrics (Opportunities to see, share of voice, coverage numbers, event attendees, sentiment, quality v quantity).
Ensure that Sony PSE protects and promotes its image in a professional, co-ordinated way using proactive and reactive responses to develop and exploit opportunities to enhance reputation, market leadership and visibility of products and services.
Actively promote and develop collaborative working relationships with press, maintaining a working network, including co-ordaining appropriate and consistent responses to key issues. Be known as a media spokesperson for PSE.
Manage the communication flow by maintenance and creation of communications materials including press lists, editorial calendars, key facts and figures in briefing documents, speeches, PR copy, biographies etc.
Work closely with key spokespeople (Business Group Heads) and answer enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations, including crisis communications management, where appropriate with the Director of Corporate Comms Europe.
Develop and maintain a network of contacts, relationships and allies across specific areas of the business as a source of stories and best practice initiatives, including a network of PR agencies and media contacts for external communication.
Work closely with European, Japan HQ and US senior colleagues to deliver best practice PR strategy and tactics.
Provide clear measurement reports as evidence of PR and IC activity and adapt future activity accordingly.

Qualifications & Experience:

Demonstrable experience of working in journalism, internal communications, PR or marketing, preferably in a relevant B2B technology sector.
Experience engaging at senior and executive management levels in an international, commercial business.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including copywriting experience.
Excellent business acumen and understanding of commercial strategies/context, specifically Technology and Media and Entertainment.

Employee engagement as measured through staff survey and feedback channels.
Senior stakeholder feedback.


Cost Control of SGA (Sony Global Accounting) and 3rd party budgets.
Key Stakeholder Satisfaction.
