Salary: £45,841 – £53,841 pro rata of FTE
In order for the General Dental Council to be a high performing and efficient regulator it is essential that we are able to procure the services we require in a lawful manner that delivers value for money. The primary focus of the role will be to support the implementation of the contract and procurement target operating model, working closely with a new procurement team and contract owners across the GDC to ensure that contracts are procured, negotiated, concluded and reviewed in a legally compliant, timely and risk-based manner.
This role will involve working closely the procurement team and contract owners across the GDC, including some travel to our London office. The implementation of our contract and procurement target operating model will include reviewing and assessing legal risk, supporting the drafting of documents, and providing insight into standard industry practice and offering proactive and pragmatic advice to ensure the GDC’s interests are protected.
You will also be responsible for building the capacity of the in-house legal team and contract owners, by identifying and delivering training and sharing knowledge as appropriate.

What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will be a qualified and practising solicitor or barrister or ILEX qualified. You will bring with you significant experience working in-house with, or advising, public contracting authorities, including advising on the Public Contract regulations and developing terms and conditions, combined with experience of negotiating and concluding commercial agreements that deliver value for money and protect clients’ interests. Equally important will be your collaborative approach across all levels and your ability to analyse complex legal issues and present legally sound and pragmatic advice.
