STOCKPORT NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
STEPPING HILL HOSPITAL
Consultant Rheumatologist – Full Time (10PA’s) for a 12 month fixed term period.
We are seeking to recruit a full time Consultant in Rheumatology for a 12 month fixed term period. This post is offered due to the expansion of services offered at Stepping Hill Hospital in response to rising demand and is in line with the Trust’s long term strategy which focusses on the treatment of long term/chronic illnesses in order to prevent complications and promote independence and subsequent control of disease.
This is an exciting time to join a well-established and highly successful Rheumatology service. The department currently includes four Consultant Rheumatologists, one Specialist Registrar, two ST1 trainees, three specialist nurses, one specialist pharmacist and one pharmacy technician. However this service expansion will incorporate investment across the Rheumatology service including increased specialist nurse and pharmacy input. The Rheumatology team provides a comprehensive outpatient specialist service for patients with non-surgical musculoskeletal conditions and connective tissue disease. As well as general adult rheumatology clinics, there are regular specialist clinics including Osteoporosis, Giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Early Inflammatory Arthritis (EIA). There are also nurse-led clinics in general rheumatology, biologic therapies and DMARD monitoring. Day case procedures are also offered for infusions and joint injections.
We pride ourselves on having established a seamless multi-disciplinary approach to the care of patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic conditions. Recent service review and patient feedback have been very positive and we are highly regarded as a department within the Trust and across the region for providing an excellent service.
The service has close links with the University of Manchester and the department is actively involved in teaching and research.
This position does not have a requirement to cover in General Internal Medicine.
The post holder is required to hold a CCT or be within 6 months of receiving CCT at the time of interview. As such the post holder should be trained in all aspects of clinical rheumatology.
If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £43.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
