This role sits in Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to the routes in the safest, most cost-efficient and effective way, enabling them to benefit from economies of scale and optimised national resources.
Our Asset Information Services team offers the rail industry trusted asset-related data and information management, insight and tools, enabling better informed business decisions that further improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of the railway as a system and ultimately deliver the timetable for our passenger and freight customers.
You will manage the train-borne data collection activities to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures. Manage resources in an effective manner to support delivery.About the role (External)
1.Manage the delivery of train-borne examination data collection activities and safety inspections in compliance with the Railway Group and Company Standards
2.Liaise with the Planning and Logistics team to inform the viability of proposed data collection plans, managing the effective and efficient deployment of resources to deliver the plan
3.Undertake technical and operational competency assessments for on-train technicians and inspectors; liaise with the Safety and Competence Specialist to identify and address training needs
4.Identify and exploit processes and equipment to improve cost effectiveness and enhance the working environments
5.Act as the business specialist on train-borne infrastructure data measurement techniques, systems and outputs; provide technical expertise to customers and stakeholders
6.Support the review and monitoring of system functional performance, working with the Measurement Systems Maintenance team to develop and deliver remediation activities as required
7.Undertake the development and implementation of relevant standards, processes and procedures
8.Support the validation, calibration, product acceptance and implementation of new and existing examination technologies, systems and vehicles
