Are you an experienced senior commercial professional? Are you looking for a new challenge to lead and develop a commercial strategy?

The role of Commercial Director will involve you joining the executive team of Severn Trent Green Power, with the key focus of leading and developing the business’s Commercial strategy, to ensure that our operation delivers and exceeds investment business cases. This exciting new role will allow the role holder to own and build on contract relationships, lead commercial negotiations, innovate the range of product and service offerings and build the Severn Trent Green Power brand and reputation. You will lead on the commercial part of our growth strategy across our food AD and green waste plants improving the value chain, developing new partnerships and new business development ideas. This is a broad role that will require the support of our dedicated team of commercial professionals. In the position of Commercial Lead you will be responsible for leading and developing our commercial team, providing the direction, mentoring and coaching to support delivery of our strategic objectives.

Let’s talk about the key accountabilities associated with the role of Commercial Lead / Commercial Director at Severn Trent Green Power…..

• Leadership of a team of commercial professionals to ensure the delivery of business plan targets • Development of our food and garden waste feedstock sourcing strategy that secures the right level of certainty for delivering our returns on our renewable energy investments and innovates to create new routes to market and new propositions • Grow income and contribution related to food and garden waste gate fees and energy yield • Continually track market developments and adapt our commercial strategy accordingly • Develop and deliver business cases for operational, customer and process changes to meet customer expectations and new market developments • Develop the market-facing sales, marketing and brand plan to differentiate ST Green Power from competitors • Ensure all contracts are conducted in line with both internal policies and external legislation and in conjunction with the operations team • Develop excellent working relationships with key internal & external stakeholders including target Local Authorities, Commercial and Industrial customers and be the senior commercial contact for key council, contract waste partners and local stakeholders. • Accountability for customer satisfaction in accordance with all relevant legislation and industry codes of practice • Lead the procurement of key categories, for example plastics disposal, to deliver cost savings by working in conjunction with Operations and Group support functions.

• Proven leadership experience demonstrating your ability to successfully create, inspire and lead a commercial team • Strong commercial background with practical experience in winning waste service contracts, managing supplier relationships and procurement • Extensive experience of Local Government procurement processes • Knowledge of waste and recycling legislation and governance of ABP legislation • Strong analytical approach and proficiency in using analytical tools and techniques.

Additional Information:

This is full time role based at our head office in Radford, Oxfordshire. Regular travel will be required to sites, customers and alternative offices and therefore a full driving license will be required.
