An exciting opportunity for a full time band 7 Contracts Manager within NHS Borders has arisen to provide a lead to the development, implementation and monitoring of Primary Care & Community Services contracts.

To provide Project management and lead responsibility for work streams relating to the local negotiation process and implementation of NHS Borders Contracts with General Medical Practitioners, General Dental Practitioners, Community Pharmacists and Ophthalmic Opticians within NHS Borders.

To ensure that nationally negotiated contracts are amended to reflect local interpretation and implementation across independent contractors with NHS Borders.

To provide local advice and expertise in the area of contract development, monitoring and review to the General Manager – Primary & Community Services, Primary, Acute & Community Board, in conjunction with the NHS Lothian Primary Care Contracts General Manager.

To ensure that the contracts implemented locally comply with the priorities identified within NHS Borders Local Delivery Plan and Borders Health & Social Care Partnership's Strategic Plan.

Employer details: NHS Borders is the NHS service provider for the Scottish Borders. We provide acute and primary care services from the Borders General Hospital, 4 community hospitals and a network of mental health and learning disability inpatient, community and day facilities.

The Borders General Hospital provides a full range of services across the specialties, including inpatient and daycase surgery, outpatient services, Accident & Emergency, maternity and paediatrics as well as therapy, laboratory and pharmacy facilities.

The Community Hospitals provide inpatient GP beds, outpatient and rehabilitation and therapy clinics.

Our Primary & Community Services Board co-ordinates primary health care services provided by 24 GP practice and a network of dentists, pharmacists and ophthalmic opticians across the region.

NHS Borders also has responsibility for health protection and health promotion for the population of the Borders.

The Scottish Borders has a population of about 110,000 and NHS Borders employs approximately 3,200 staff.
