The role

We are looking for an Installations Team Leader to join our Installations Team. In this role you will be managing an onsite team taking responsibility for the Health & Safety, Reporting, and Quality Assurance of the installation from the initiation through to completion. The team’s deliverables are Cabling & Installation of Wireless Access Points, Cabinets and External Devices; wireless point to point link installations (cherry picker work); and installations of active equipment within data racks (switches, routers etc.).

As the lead onsite contact during the installation phase you will ensure that project plans and targets are met and that all on-site documentations are up to date. You will be responsible for the data termination, testing and documentation (RJ45, Patch Panels). You will be responsible for managing and motivating your team, managing on site expectations by liaising with the customer on a day-to-day basis and coordinate the access and delivery of materials and tools with external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

On Site processes:

Working closely with your team and the Installation Manager to:

  • Conduct opening meetings with local customer representative
  • Ensure all team members are fully trained and follow Wifinity Risk assessments and Method Statements when delivering tasks on customer site
  • Deliver installations on time and within budget
  • Work in line with provided plans
  • Approve amendments to plans as appropriate
  • Ensure your team is motivated and deliver tasks in line with the agreed plan
  • Ensure required resources are available and assigned to your project
  • Make sure materials are available when required
  • Ensure no compromise on the quality of work delivered
  • Provide regular feedback to the Installations Manager on work progress and completion rates
  • Escalate major issues encountered on site
  • Deal with any minor issues that may arise on site
  • Ensure accommodation has been arranged for the team
  • Liaise with the local contact on all aspects of delivery
  • Sign off project completion and customer handover
  • Ensure H&S briefings prior to each project
  • Provide submission of all amendments to a plan with ‘As Is’ drawing

Team Leadership:

Management of a team operating on site(s) through:

  • Flexibility in working throughout the UK and abroad
  • Engaging the team to ensure individual tasks are completed to pre defined quality standards
  • Owning the concept of multi-skilling within the team
  • Providing feedback on individual development, skills and training requirements within the team
  • Highlighting team members that are ready for progression within the organisation
  • Implementing local reward and recognition in line with Wifinity policies
  • Conducting annual performance reviews with team members as applicable
  • Ensuring the skills matrix for the team is updated
  • Working within the allocated budget for each site

Project Progress Reporting & Planning:

To provide field KPIs promptly on work progress in line with the following:

  • Completion rates of tasks against plan
  • Daily resource hours used against plan
  • Provide and validate resource and materials costs allocated to site against budget
  • Be part of the installation team action planning process


About you

You will be a goal orientated leader with the ability to use initiative to resolve issues that may arise on site. You value clear and concise communication and are able to provide detailed progress reporting. You are also proactive and a problem solver with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in a Team Leadership role within the telecoms industry
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Security clearance
  • Proficient in using computers, email and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience in conducting site surveys
  • Experience in customer facing environment
  • Experience in network installations and understands the basics of cabling and networking


  • Experience in Installation and fault finding on point to point wireless equipment
  • Knowledge of working with fibre cabling to include splicing, fault finding and testing


  • IPAF qualifications

Job Title: Installations Team Leader

Contract: Perm, fulltime

Working hours: 40h/week

Salary: 38k annually
