Responsibilities for the Head of Customer Marketing:

  • Working closely with the CMO, lead the development and implementation of customer pillars
  • Full accountability for the successful delivery of all marketing campaign activities across all marketing channels, ensuring each campaign has clear return on investment, is on time and to budget while achieving its campaign objective
  • Working closely with the CMO and Brand team, act as a brand custodian ensuring all propositions have originality and answers the question, why does this matters to our customers
  • Ensure there is a comprehensive customer journey to convert all first time customers to loyal customers
  • Work closely with the Division Directors to drive a customer focused culture throughout the businesses
  • Ensure the strategic marketing team are embedded within their business areas developing and executing divisional marketing requirements in line with the overarching brand and customer pillars
  • Work closely with the Data & Insights team ensuring all activities are backed by robust data modelling
  • Lead, inspire and develop the marketing team to ensure that it is motivated and is a core driving force of business direction
  • Manage departmental budgets to ensure cost control is kept firmly in line with monthly targets

Key skills and behaviours required for the Head of Customer Marketing:

  • Passionate about brand and about what marketing can bring
  • Takes well-calculated risks for the organisation and brings an entrepreneurial flair
  • Makes sound decisions based on data, analysis, experience and good judgement
  • Strong presentation and communication skills combined with enthusiasm
  • Extensive experience of working at a senior level within an organisation is essential, including working closely with a executive group
  • Significant experience of delivering marketing activities across a diverse business with different markets, divisions and product types (physical and non-physical) is essential
  • Substantial and demonstrable experience in successfully delivering growth through marketing activity across multiple channels is essential
  • Experience in working in a retail/e-commerce environment is desirable
  • Expert in marketing best practice, having added measurable value to businesses via application of these principles and in response to customer requirements
  • Graduate calibre or equivalent within a strategic marketing field is required
  • A track record in people management and team leadership is essential including a coaching and mentoring style that develops and grows the skills of the team
  • Direct marketing experience would be a real advantage
