Teaching Assistant-EAL Support.

Monarch is delighted to offer you the opportunity to work on a full-time basis with EAL pupils in a progressive primary school in Oldham. The recent Ofsted report for the school praised the progress of disadvantaged and pupil premium pupils, noting a good attitude to learning across the whole school. They also noted the strength and passion of the SLT in raising standards.

The school is looking for a committed, enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant, to work on a 1:1 and group basis with pupils for whom English is a second language. No specific language is required however you will be responsible for both working with pupils in class and taking them out of class to work on language and communication.

You must have previous experience in working with EAL pupils, and experience with all year groups is beneficial, as you will be working across the school.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading 1:1 and group sessions, focusing on language improvement and communication skills
  • Reporting to teachers and parents on pupil development, using assessments and reports
  • Following school policy on discipline, supporting initiatives by the Head and other SLT
  • Assisting in class with pupils struggling to keep up/understand
  • Hold a Level 3 childcare qualification, or equivalent, a TEFL qualification or a TESOL qualification;

There is staff parking on-site and good parking availability on surrounding streets. The school is also well serviced by local bus links.
