  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leading large Scrum teams playing the Scrum Master role diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • At least 3 years of hands-on technical experience on large scale Java J2ee based projects
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals of iterative/incremental development and DevOps culture
  • Strong experience of leading teams on projects using Continuous Integration and Automation Testing frameworks
  • Solid experience working with Architecture teams to assess and size story/epics
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile procedures to predict the development teams’ needs
  • Passionate commitment to delivering products on time
  • Deep understanding of agile metrics (tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.) to analyse and improve sprint planning
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical challenges and dependencies to the management team
  • Scrum Master certification

To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • Hands on Agile delivery experience i.e. as a Delivery Manager or Scrum Master, working on digital or technology projects either at a leading consultancy, agency or Government organisation
  • Experience in working on digital projects which have included cross functional teams such as Designers, Researchers, UX, Product Owners & Developers
  • Scrum Master certification, or be willing to attain the certification
  • Experience in coordinating ceremonies associated with Agile delivery, such as planning sessions, reviews and retrospectives
  • Experience in running workshops, in particular getting to the root cause of the problem
  • Displays Innovative leadership behaviours - coaching the team, self-organising, transparent, respectful to people's working styles, motivating
  • A self-starter, comfortable working in both process driven and ambiguous environments
  • Experience and a passion for working within Central Government and other sectors.
  • Experience in dealing with the commercial side of project delivery such as Statements of Work (SOWs), balance scorecard, supplier contracts and reports.
  • Proven capability of working successfully with senior client stakeholders and end-users, quickly building successful relationships and establishing credibility
  • A passion for digital and technology, with the drive and determination to continually learn new things and develop yourself and others
  • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
  • The right to live and work in the UK, be a British national (ideally not dual nationality), and have lived in the UK to get SC clearance.

Nice to have:

  • Experience of working on large scale integration projects preferably in the UK Public sector
  • Experience of working on Cloud based projects such as AWS.
  • Good understanding of other Agile principles and techniques like SAFE and Kanban
  • Good understanding of ITIL based Support processes.
  • Active Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily stand-up, sprint planning, sprint review and retrospective
  • Guide teams in estimating practices and facilitate team estimates
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Drive execution of sprints, communicate to management and other stakeholders, protect team from unplanned injection of work.
  • Ensure project releases are sufficiently supported through their life cycle to achieve success.
  • Manage resource, requirement and operational conflicts to keep the teams running at high performance.
  • Able to retrospect and analyse the root causes to help teams continuously improve their practices to ensure maximum productivity
  • Maintain team data in project management software (i.e. JIRA, Confluence) to support estimates and execution.
  • Present sprint performance and deliverables for the management
  • Supports product owner(s) with intra-team dynamics with respect to priorities and scope
  • Building trust and creating safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Facilitate discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution with the teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and lead the team by example
