About the role
The Head of PETT & Foundation learning you will work within the realigned and extended Quality and Transforming Learning Services Department and will be responsible for leadership and operational management of identified Curriculum areas, ensuring that the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding and that learners succeed and progress.
As a member of the management team with the Quality, and Transforming, Learning and Services Department, the post holder will be passionate about raising the standards of teaching, learning and assessment and raising the standards of the learner’s learning experience within PETT & Foundation learning. They need someone with strong knowledge and experience in SEND, Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Needs.
The successful candidate will motivate peers and be proactive in encouraging and supporting approaches to continuous, sustainable improvement that promote excellence, through the effective development and implementation of high-quality teaching and learning improvement initiatives including embracing new technologies. Knowledge and experience in SEND, Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Needs is essential to this role. There will be a teaching commitment with requirement to be agreed with line manager.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
··Be responsible for the operational management and leadership of learner recruitment, the total learner experience, successful achievement of outcomes and progression of learners.
·To lead, manage and develop the CMs, CTLs and the curriculum delivery team and learners within your designated area.
·To promote and develop excellence in teaching, learning and assessments through high performing teams.
·To promote a culture of quality improvement embedding quality assurance systems consistent with college quality standards.
·To lead and manage the development of the curriculum and its resources to ensure it keeps abreast of industry needs and requirements.
·To work collaboratively with the college business service areas to provide a high quality learner experience.
·To set and monitor targets for learner and course success measures to ensure that strategic targets are met leading to continuous improvement.
Requirements for the role:
·IT literate – MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
·2 years Industry experience within SEND and foundation learning
·Hold a teaching and management qualification
·Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
·Commitment to raising the quality of learners experience and achievement of excellent learning outcomes
·A clear understanding of an inclusive and learner focused approach to the delivery of the curriculum
·Significant leadership/management experience at in the education sector with knowledge of the complex FE environment
