What does the role of Care Assistant involve?

  • To contribute to the creation of a pleasant environment, as a part of the Care Team, by undertaking a variety of group and one-to-one activities
  • To help residents enjoy the facilities of the home at all times
  • To produce and deliver a varied, entertaining and stimulating activities programme
  • To identify suitable volunteers to complement the work of other staff
  • To assist in fund-raising events
  • To assist in the production of publicity information relating to residents’ activities
  • To provide quality care, under the supervision of the Care Team Manager, by attending to residents’ physical and personal needs which may include toileting, feeding and any other personal needs
  • To help with the preparation and serving of meals and other appropriate domestic tasks
  • To talk and listen to individuals and help them overcome any anxieties whilst respecting their rights to privacy and dignity
  • To participate in staff meetings, training and development and staff supervision
  • To contribute to the preparation and review of individual residents’ care plans
  • To assist with the distribution of medication under the supervision of the Care Team Manager
