AECOM is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in Belfast. you will be involved in all aspects of building consultancy environmental engineering including sketches, design, specifications and drawing production for our Education, Leisure, Commercial and Healthcare projects.
Your role will involve ensuring the completion of projects by actively driving operations, acting as a key point of contact and information, developing designs and working through calculations.
You will also be responsible for improving our quality control and standards, working within a team and by helping to business develop though exceptional delivery and a positive approach when speaking with clients.
Contribute to project operations:
Undertake the control of all production aspects of the projects in the office.
To manage the design and construction stage activities with both external and internal teams.
Act as a key internal and external point of contact:
Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed.
Ensure the design team is kept fully informed of all technical and other information necessary for the duration of the project.
Represent AECOM at Client, Design Team and Progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases of projects.
To act as the main point of contact with design teams.
Design and Calculations:
Produce all design information.
Ensure that all calculations are prepared and signed off in accordance with the requirements of the IMS, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
To prepare and present drawings, designs, reports and specifications.
Be competent to deliver, review & approve mechanical engineering calculations (IES/ Hevacomp or similar).
Has Revit and BIM capabilities.
Ensure compliance with all Statutory and Regulatory obligations, make submissions to the Statutory Authorities and obtain approvals as necessary.
Contribute to the update of AECOM standards.
To maintain and enhance expertise within the team and as an individual.
To manage & build client and architect relationships with the aim of securing repeat work.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Experience within Education (Primary, Secondary & Universities) and Healthcare (Hospitals, Clinics & Labs) projects is preferred but other experience will be considered if you are looking to gain more knowledge in these areas.
Relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles, including ventilation & piped system distribution, control systems, energy calculations and be conversant with codes and practices.
Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
HNC/HND or Degree educated in building services, mechanical engineering, or similar/related discipline. (Experience rather than education route will be considered)
Revit capability is desirable.
