Within AECOM’s Buildings and Places business is the Energy and Sustainability group with a wide range of expertise particularly in the feasibility and engineering design of bespoke carbon and cost-saving solutions.
This team specialises in the understanding of energy consumption in the built environment and the critical thinking needed to produce long-term sustainable responses.
Recent achievements include working with large organisations such as the Houses of Parliament to reduce energy and carbon consumption, work to establish the future energy strategy for proposed development at Old Oak Common and a heavy involvement in design and feasibility work to support the delivery of District Heating through both the GLA and BEIS. 2020 will see major growth across this business unit in the following key areas:
District Energy (DE) Systems with a focus on sustainable heat, cooling and power
Large scale Energy consumption studies for big property portfolios
Sustainable Building Design
Smart Cities and Communities
Optimisation of Assets
Site wide controls
Your Duties will include
Take responsibility for quality and standards of the work produced in this area.
Lead and input into design solutions providing technical direction and guidance.
Manage the allocation and expenditure of budget and time resources against programme and deliverables and report this as necessary.
Interfacing, communicating and building relationships with other key actors around the business.
Contribution to the development of AECOM’s sustainability and energy practices both at a company policy level and as an outward facing business.
Management and development of the pipeline of work in this area.
Growth, supported by the senior management team, of the service area described above.
Line management of a small team of consultants and engineers.
Identification and development of new business.
Experience within the building services/energy industry
Chartered, Incorporated or an identified level of professional standing within industry
Experience of building and plant condition surveys
Track record of technical writing and communication:- energy strategies, detailed feasibility studies, specifications and fee proposals
A track record of delivery of complex projects in modelling and the application of various types of energy systems within a variety of scenarios
Experience of various types of contract (NEC / JCT) preferred
Knowledge of the ESCo marketplace
Experience in CHP, heat pumps and district heating preferred
Experience in identification and assessment for possible Energy Conservation Measures in the built environment
Good communication, presentation, time management, problem solving, organisation and prioritisation skills are also required for this position.
Defence related engineering experience is essential
Current security clearance BPSS level
Current driving license.
At this level you should hold a BEng/BSc and preferably a Masters degree in a relevant Engineering or Energy discipline.
Chartered engineers are preferred
