Due to a recent re-organisation GBRf are proud to offer a new and exciting opportunity of Training Manager who will be responsible for the management and delivery of traincrew competency training and bridging the gap between the Planning and Operations department.

At GBRf we are always looking for ways to innovate our training programs and your role will be integral to this including new projects such as the digitilisation of training.

You will work closely with the planning team to ensure traincrew competencies are kept up to date and developed to meet commercial needs and provides a platform for future growth.

You will also manage a friendly, professional team of Operations Training Managers and support them with the delivery of high-quality training.

If you have an interest or experience in Training and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to see projects through to completion, this role could be right for you.

Our new state of the art training school is based in Peterborough therefore the successful candidate will need to either be based there or travel to this office on a regular basis.

Core objectives

  • Increase the operational core competencies to align with GBRf’s growth strategy.
  • Bridge the gap between commercial requirement and operational goals.
  • Develop industry leading training with the ability to commercialise GBRf’s training programs.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Standards develop training schemes for the production department.

  • Management of end to end delivery of all training including the route refreshing video system
  • Co-ordinate all training delivered by Operations Training Manager’s and Operations Standards Manager’s
  • Develop and Coordinate a training strategy per region in co-ordination with the support of the Regional Manager’s
  • Developing a road learning strategy for traincrew depots
  • Identification and implementation of Supply Chain Operations (SCO) possession road learning
  • Responsible for the route and competence of PQA Train manager drivers
  • Identity training needs, plan training courses ensuring the delivery of the training is completed through to sign off.
  • Utilisation of simulators – developing commercial and training opportunities
  • Management of cab passes and briefing documentation

Essential Skills

  • GCSE in Maths and English, or equivalent
  • Confident and proactive
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Written skills
  • Excellent decision making and organisational skills, with good-time management
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of the railway

  • Understanding of the route learning and training process
