Support Worker Job Details

Our young customers' needs may be due to a learning and / or physical disability, autism, or be vulnerable due to their home life situation. You will follow bespoke care plans, to deliver support that has been tailored to each person. Care is provided at customers' own homes and in the community, across the Trafford and Salford areas. This may include assisting with daily routines and life skills, accessing interests and activities, going on day trips and visiting local attractions and resources. Please note, personal care may be involved; you will need to be comfortable with this.

Some of our customers may also have behaviours that challenge at times; we provide our staff with Team Teach training to de-escalate and manage these situations effectively.

Much of the work we do with our young people is before school, or on evenings and weekends, so you will need to be very flexible with hours.

We are excited that our service is growing, developing and diversifying. If you want to be a part of this, follow the application process to submit your details.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work, including insurance for business use
  • Experience of working with learning disabilities/autism or other similar support needs (can be voluntary or personal experience also)
  • Able to remain calm under pressure; perceptive to customer needs and emotional wellbeing
  • Prepared to work a pattern that includes alternate weekends and any time between 7am and 11pm on your regular rostered days.
  • Whilst focusing on children, you will be open to working with our whole range of customers, including elderly, to meet service needs
  • Strong communication skills to engage with a wide range of customers, their families and other health professionals
  • Energetic, positive and motivated to achieve customer outcomes
  • An enhanced DBS and references will be sought for successful candidates

We're a Real Living Wage accredited employer and you'll be rewarded with a Support Worker starting rate of £9.30 an hour during training and probation, which increases to the full standard rate of £10 an hour afterwards. When working with our more complex customers, this is enhanced to £11 an hour. Bank holidays are paid at double time. You'll also benefit from:
