We work hard every day to deliver our mission to inspire, support and deliver change to communities across Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, the Ribble Valley and West Yorkshire.

We work with over 70 local, regional, and national partners in five key areas: Sport, Education, Health, Social Inclusion and Community Facilities. Our highly skilled, dynamic, and passionate team now deliver over 50 community projects that touch the lives of a huge spectrum of people in and around Burnley. From children and young people right through to senior citizens.

The charity is now looking to recruit to the role of Burnley Community Kitchen Co-Ordinator to work at the Burnley Community Kitchen.

Working closely with Burnley FC in the Community colleagues’ and partner agencies, the successful candidate will lead and co-ordinate the Burnley Community Kitchen, including the foodbank, food collections and distribution, community teaching kitchen, community café and sports retail sections of the facility and co-ordinate delivery to the BFC Early Kick Off Breakfast Clubs.

The BCK Co-Ordinator will be expected to:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Community Kitchen including the food bank, community teaching kitchen, community café and sports retail section of the facility.
• Co-ordinate the distribution of food to the Burnley FC Early Kick Off breakfast clubs across Burnley and Pendle.
• Secure donations of food and services from a wide range of partners.
• Ensure that the facility is fully compliant across all food safety standards.
• Line manage the small staff team in the facility.
• Recruit, manage and train volunteers to assist in all sections of the facility.
• Work with the Head of Governance and Compliance to ensure all risk assessments, policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to.
• Work with the Head of Facilities on funding bids, budgets and to ensure that the service is delivered and managed in accordance with the Charity’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Work with Burnley FC supporters’ groups, local businesses, and supermarkets to ensure the facility is supported throughout the year.
• Identify and establish effective relationships with potential partners, organisations and groups.
• To be able to work flexible and unsociable hours where the role of the job requires.
• A commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace and a willingness to undertake all relevant equality and di-versity training.
• Willingness to attend training courses including Safeguarding.
• Demonstrate the Burnley FC in the Community values at all times.
• Promote the Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong, and positive manner.

An ideal candidate will have;
Essential:
• Level 3 Food Safety qualification (or working towards).
• A full, clean, and valid UK driving license (including D1 category).
• Experience in the operation of a food bank or similar.
• Experience of working with people from disadvantaged, marginalised or socially excluded backgrounds.
• Experience of following a referral process.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good IT and administration skills including intermediate abilities in all MS Office programmes.
• An ability to develop and build relationships, working collaboratively with a range of partners.
• Experience of managing people and in particular volunteers.
• An understanding of food safety standards, environmental health and health and safety regulations.
• Ability to handle difficult situations, involving conflict and aggression.
• A good understanding of safeguarding, and a willingness to undertake relevant training.
• Empathy and an ability to work with a diverse range of people in an inclusive and proactive way.
• A passion for improving the health and wellbeing of the community in Burnley and its surrounding areas.
• A friendly, positive ‘can do’ and courteous attitude.

Desirable:
• IAG Qualification.
• Experience of working in a community environment.
• Experience of managing a community facility.
• Experience of supervising a volunteer programme.
• Experience of implementing a client referral process.
