Social Profit Calculator (SPC) is a consultancy and software company specialising in the measurement, monitoring and calculation of social, economic and environmental impact. Our Social Value Calculator is accredited by Social Value UK and Social Value International, to provide robust and credible calculations of Social Value across all project stages, from planning to operation, asset value, fund management and end-user experience.

At SPC, we use our practical knowledge, experience and expertise to provide clients across all sectors with innovative, forward-thinking and deliverable social value policies and strategies. We work with businesses of all sizes to offer a comprehensive range of tender services: including procurement support, social value offers, HM Treasury Business Case appraisal support and bid writing. We have a diverse client base across a range of sectors including construction, retail, finance, professional services, public sector and third sector organisations. Our target market is mostly in the construction and infrastructure sectors, although we work broadly too.

Social Value is a growth area, and we are a growing business. This means building a dynamic, inspiring culture where we celebrate diverse, bold thinking. We are curious, creative and open to new ideas and ways of working, and it takes the skills of a collaborative team to deliver on what we can do.

We recently took the decision to become a fully remote business and have successfully transitioned to working together online full time. We have ambitions, however to meet in person (Covid-permitting) from time to time and hence would prefer a candidate with convenient access to either Manchester (where most of our team are based) or Hull, where our sister company, Pagabo, have excellent meeting facilities.

Purpose of the Role

Social Profit Calculator has been growing for a few years, mostly through word of mouth. We are in a position now to kick-start sales and marketing and “level up”. We are looking for a self-motivated, confident and enthusiastic sales person to take up the mantle and get more businesses to report on the social value that they are creating.



  • Planning and executing marketing campaigns with the Marketing Team - with suspects, prospects and existing SPC, Pagabo or Sypro customers
  • Prospecting, calling ‘warm/cold’ contacts as necessary
  • Organising sales meetings and appointments, SPC is digital-first, so mostly meeting will be via Zoom or MS Teams – sales visits will be required where necessary
  • Demonstrating and presenting software products
  • Preparing, presenting and negotiating contracts and packages
  • Attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings where required
  • Maintaining a sales pipeline and forecast and presenting this to other team members and management
  • Working to a sales budget and plan, and achieving sales targets

Person Specification

  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in an active sales or business development role
  • Good English, Maths and ICT knowledge and skills [GCSE level C or above]
  • Able to use internal systems to record information and track performance; we also use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint and Mailchimp
  • Great interpersonal skills; whether its meeting and greeting customers at shows, presenting a proposal to a customer, or helping or explaining a problem
  • Able to make those tough ‘telephone’ calls [if needed] and able to articulate internally and externally verbally and via email
  • Documenting processes and procedures and presenting ideas to other team members
  • A commitment to deadlines and targets and a desire to ‘fly’ the flag for the customer

Nice to Haves

  • Understanding of technical development processes
  • Understanding of one of: social value, CSR, social impact, sustainability
  • Driving licence and your own car.
