In line with the growth and success of our boat club and rowing performance programme, we are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced and highly motivated Director of Rowing on a half time basis.
You will work with a group of dedicated student athletes who are committed to success in both their academic and athletic pursuits. Complementing our other six sports specific directors and working closely with colleagues in Strength and Conditioning, Performance Analysis and Sports Development, as well as the club committee. The successful candidate will lead the rowing programme to develop rowing at all levels, from beginner/participation level to elite/performance for both the men’s and women’s squads.
The club have enjoyed good results of late, most recently in 2019, when our men’s 4+ reached the semi-finals of the Prince Albert Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. Our women’s 4- reached the quarter-finals of Henley Women’s Regatta. These successes followed a record medal haul for the club at BUCS Regatta, where both the senior men’s and women’s pairs won gold, and both coxed fours won bronze. As the club has grown, so have the ambitions of our athletes. In July 2019, four Saints athletes represented Scotland at the Home International Regatta and won gold medals in three categories. Our desire is to progress further and achieve success at national and international level, whilst increasing the engagement of rowing at the University, encouraging newcomers and growing the club.
Candidates should have substantial experience of planning and delivering coaching programmes, ideally in higher education. Applicants should hold at a minimum, a UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent.
