Support Worker (Children's Home) Canterbury

Acorn Homes are looking for the right Support Worker to join our home in Bromley, to encourage and motivate children, young people and young adults to develop life skills, and participate in a range of leisure activities, educational interests and social opportunities which offer positive challenges within a safe and structured environment.

Support Worker Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be prepared to work with children with behavioral needs.
  • Motivated and committed individuals, with a calm approach.
  • Team players with the ability to work use their own initiative.
  • Positive role model to the children and young people.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Someone that will be able to react calmly in stressful situations and deal with difficult and challenging behaviors.
  • Complete and maintain administrative records as required by the organisation.

The Support Worker will need to:

  • Possess a minimum of two years experience working in a Childrens Home.
  • Knowledge gained in a supervisory role of a Childrens Home.
  • Hold or be willing to achieve a Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care with Children and Young People.
  • We advise that you drive due to the location of the home.
  • Be prepared to work early, late and night shifts (including sleepovers) on a rota basis.
  • Must be over the age of 21 (Employer has claimed an exemption under the Equality Act 2010)

You will be joining a family owned company whos owner is a patron of the NSPCC. Acorn has an enviable reputation with local authorities for delivering good outcomes for young people and demonstrating resilience. Acorn Group also delivers education across two school sites (DFE registered), encompasses a Health and Well Being service which provides and delivers assessments and therapies. Acorn currently operate nine registered homes all rated Good or Outstanding and you would become a successful part of the team within the home with full support from an active and engaged Deputy and Manager, head office and senior management team.
