Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Lending & Investment Operations, you will be responsible for the execution, perfection and completion of Innovation Loans, including the management of legal documentation around the taking of security, to ensure a “right first time” approach equivalent to the standard required in a regulated financial services entity.

You will also be responsible for the day to day management of Innovate UK Loans Limited (IUKL)’s lending administration partner, through relationship building and operation of contractual SLAs, ensuring accuracy and transparency in the service it provides to end clients and its reporting to IUKL.

Finally, you will manage IUKL’s rolling cash requirements, working closely with IUKL’s finance business partner to manage IUKL’s cash exposure within a narrow tolerance, ensuring value for money and consistency with the requirements set out in Managing Public Money.

You will benefit from a small team of Lending Operations analysts to support day to day activities, and as a team leader will be expected to support and develop those within your team to foster a culture in which opportunities for continual improvement and innovation are welcomed.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

To manage the day to day delivery of innovation lending & investment activities, ensuring that processes are developed to underpin and embed good practice by:

Contributing to the continuous improvement cycle for all operational activities, exemplifying a culture of self-reflection, critical analysis and action;
Defining, measuring and implementing KPIs within your business area aligned with Innovate UK Loans Limited’s statement of risk appetite for the programme and objectives;
Managing external partners for the administration of the lending book, overseeing their performance;
Responsible for timely delivery of customer transactions from loan documentation to drawdowns and collection;
Ensuring the customer is put at the centre of programme operations and delivery – and that their feedback to gathered, assessed and addressed;
Line Management of a team of Lending Operations Analysts, with responsibility for their development in role and developing a positive organisational culture;
Engage in work across the team, contributing ideas and initiatives outside your specific responsibilities;
Deputise for the Head of Lending & Investment Operations, as required

Qualifications:

Desirable

Educated to degree-level or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
Experience:

Essential –

Background in operations for programme delivery, with a demonstrated track record of success
Practical experience in managing external vendors to deliver key administration tasks in a cost-effective and efficient manner
A team player, with the ability to lead by example and bring out the best in those around them
Experience in managing to KPIs within in a tightly-controlled environment
Desirable –

Experience in the financial services sector, with an understanding of both operational processes and the delivery of lending/investment activities;
Interest/background/experience in innovation or research, business competitiveness and technology policy or delivery;
Experience of working with public sector stakeholders

Skills:
