Job Title - Team Leader - Cemeteries

Location - Veolia, 4-7 Marsh Road, Wembley, HA0 1ES.
Hours - Full time, 36 hours per week pro rata, Overtime is available
38 Hours per week for 26 weeks
Monday to Thursday: 07.30 - 16.15
Friday: 07.30 - 15.30
34 hours per week for 26 weeks
Monday to Thursday - 08.00 - 16.00
Friday 08.00 - 15:00
What you’ll do
Within the role of a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the grounds maintenance and Interment Service where directed and is fulfilled to current standards. It may not always be glamorous, but their work really matters.
Main duties will include
Liaise with the Cemeteries Manager and Registration Officer, as appropriate for funeral booking’s and ensure staff are available as required at the graveside
Drive road vehicles, sometimes with trailers from site to site.
Supervise a team of grounds operatives, ensuring good performance, safe working practices and respectful behaviour.
Allocate and check graves, dig graves personally as required whether manually or by mechanical means, as per handbook ensuring graves are shored by recognised methods.
On reopening of graves the post holder will ensure accurate identification of graves using maps where necessary.
Meet bereaved relatives and show them the location of graves for the forthcoming funeral
Include all aspects of good horticulture practice including roses, bedding, shrubs, conifers, heather etc
Use any machinery or plant that is necessary to perform those duties
Ensure the grounds maintenance works are carried out to current standards as laid out in the ‘Standards Specification and Programmed Works Schedules. Inclusive of unlocking and locking gates within the standard working hours
Assist the Cemeteries Manager in the development and implementation of the cemetery management plans.
Use computers to access the cemetery database system to identify graves and assist the public with general information on burial history.
Responsible for ensuring that Health & Safety directives are applied and maintaining accurate H&S records
Carry out such other duties relating to the work of the service as may be required from time to time.
The experience you will need
A full UK driving licence
Team Leader/Supervisory experience
Experience in a similar position

You will be required to work across all the sites within the Brent area, there is a small and tight-knit team on across all the sites of varying ages and backgrounds, who know how to work hard while retaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
