Southampton City Council Adults, Housing and Communities Directorate work in partnership with Southern Health Partnership Trust to provide integrated mental health services in the City
Are you a Social Worker? Do you have the skills (or transferable skills) and eagerness to work alongside people who experience mental ill health? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to work in an integrated mental health and social care team.
This is a full time, permanent post and the role will be based within the Southampton Central Community Mental Health Team
We are seeking a social worker who is enthusiastic and has superb communications skills, to join Central Community Mental Health Team which provides mental health services for people who live in the city centre.
The team works with people who have enduring mental health disorders and require secondary mental health services to support them to live and prosper in their community. We want you to use strength based recovery models of social to work positively with people who experience mental ill health. To additionally work closely with their carer’s and families.
You will need to have a flexible, multi-disciplinary approach and have knowledge of the legal frameworks that underpin working with adults with care and support needs. This includes safeguarding adult enquiries, risk management frameworks, The Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Best practice.
The work is varied and challenging, and there is a strong team approach ensuring good support for the successful applicant. You will need to have a flexible, multi disciplinary approach and have a solid understanding of risk assessment, be able to complete Strengths based Care Act Assessments and have strong report writing skills. We are looking for somebody who is passionate about mental health, who wants to support junior colleagues. There are multiple learning opportunities provided by both SCC and SHFT, including a comprehensive ASYE Program, Social Work Practice Education and specialist and therapeutic Mental Health training such as CP.
It is essential for you to hold a Social Work Degree Qualification.
