Job Title: Customer Service and Billing Manager

Salary - upto £35,000 plus Veolia benefits *listed below

Location - Dunfermline, KY11 8NX

Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We operate with COVID safety procedures in place and the team are currently working

flexibly both at home and remote.

What you’ll do

At Veolia, the Customer Service and Billing Team Leader’s responsibility is to ensure that the Retail and Commercial team delivers excellent customer service, accurate invoices and great value to our customers.

As we are a small team, this role is a unique opportunity to experience working across all elements of the retail water industry whilst working for a large and diverse organisation.

We are looking for someone with credit management and billing experience with strong analytical skills.

What you’ll need,

  • Checking and approving customer invoices (mostly water but also electricity & gas) for our Retail Water and Airport customers

  • Ensure that credit management is a top priority across the team and debt is chased in a timely and professional manner

  • Support the team with billing and credit management where required

  • Reporting on performance of direct reports (invoices raised, credit management position, complaints, cases logged, operational forms, meters read, etc)

  • Management of external billing system supplier

  • Identification of enhancements to the billing system and management of these with the supplier

  • Responsible for managing relationship with water wholesalers in Scotland and England

  • First escalation point for all complaints

  • Responsible for ensuring that customer communications are friendly and clear

  • Delivery and management of small projects

  • Responsible for ensuring meter reading is completed to avoid fines and ensure market leading performance

  • Process improvement

  • Credit management & billing experience

  • Attention to detail (accuracy and analytical skills)

  • Ability to multitask and work on many different things in one day

  • People management responsibility (or team leader)

  • Influencing and negotiating skills

  • Flexible approach to problem solving

  • Commitment and drive to improve processes and standard


  • Previous experience in the water / utilities market
